Assistant Pattern Maker & Technical Designer

Pattern Making & Technical Development

● Assist with pattern making, draping, and pattern transfers

● Measure samples and reference garments accurately

● Create technical sketches and technical drawings

● Set up and maintain spec sheets

● Digitize patterns using pattern software

● Cut and sew mock-ups (muslins/toiles)

● Create plot files in various file formats

Fittings & Client Support

● Take fit photos and detailed notes during in-person fittings

● Attend client meetings and on-site fittings

● Deliver samples and materials to clients or sample makers as needed

Materials & Research

● Source fabrics, trims, and other materials

● Assist in building and maintaining the swatch library

● Contribute to ongoing research and development projects

● Maintain the master sketch library

Studio Operations & Organization

● Maintain organized client bins with clear labeling

● Keep the studio workspace clean and organized for shared use

● Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed

● Create shipping labels and track shipping costs

● Drop off packages at UPS, FedEx, and USPS as needed

● Manage internal project management system and track client timelines

Event & Industry Support

● Assist with preparation for industry events, presentations, and meetings

Required Skills

● Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator

● Strong attention to detail

● Professional written communication and customer-facing skills

● Reliable, punctual, and highly organized

● Basic knowledge of pattern making and garment construction

● Basic sewing skills

● Strong interpersonal and client communication skills

● Collaborative attitude and positive team mindset

Bonus Skills

● Experience with CLO 3D

● Experience with Optitex

● Understanding of size grading and marker making

● Advanced sewing skills

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about technical design

and pattern making. They have a strong foundation in fashion design principles and are eager to

grow within a collaborative studio environment. This person has both a creative eye and a

technical mindset, with the ability to balance precision, aesthetics, and efficiency across a

variety of projects.

Qualifications & Attributes

● Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field

● Strong interest in technical design, garment construction, and pattern making

● Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

● Artistic eye for creating polished, visually organized customer-facing materials

● Solid basic math skills and comfort working with measurements and specifications

● Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

● Clear communicator who works well within a team environment

● Positive attitude with a desire to learn, grow, and contribute within the company

Position Details

● This is an in-person role based at our studio/office

● This position includes a 90-day probationary period at full pay

● Expected schedule is 25–30 hours per week during the probationary period, with a

possibility of full time within a one year period

● Opportunity for growth and expanded responsibilities based on performance and

company needs

Compensation: $22–$25/hr DOE

Hours: 5–6 hours per day, Monday through Friday

Location: In person at our Bellevue, TN office
