About Annie Masarie — Founder
Annie Masarie has spent her life immersed in the craft of garment construction — from childhood afternoons beside her mother’s sewing machine in Colorado to the fast‑paced studios of New York’s Garment District. She earned her degree in Apparel Design and Production at Colorado State University before heading to NYC, where an internship with Diane von Furstenberg sparked her fascination with pattern logic and technical design.
Her early career took her through Manhattan’s grading and marking world and into an in‑house patternmaking role at a high‑end manufacturer, where she worked across dozens of brands and learned the full arc of development and production. In 2014, Annie launched her freelance practice, building a reputation for patterns that balance creativity, precision, and a deep respect for the sewer’s craft.
Relocating to Nashville in 2018, Annie recognized a growing need for comprehensive development support. Over time, she expanded her solo practice into a full studio offering sourcing, tech packs, sampling, grading, and production guidance. She is particularly passionate about inclusive sizing and the technical nuance required to create garments that fit beautifully across the size spectrum.
Annie’s philosophy is simple: ask questions, gather data, and collaborate generously. She believes great patternmaking is equal parts math, craft, and communication — and she brings that mindset to every project.

Elisabeth Simon
Elisabeth Simon brings a rare blend of artistry, discipline, and technical mastery to Masarie Patterns. Originally from northwestern Canada, she first moved to Nashville as a ballerina with the Nashville Ballet, where years of precision and body awareness laid the foundation for her future in apparel design. After earning her degree in Apparel Design from Middle Tennessee State University, Elisabeth transitioned fully into the world of patternmaking and technical development.
With a strong command of both Optitex and CLO3D, Elisabeth excels at translating design concepts into patterns that are balanced, accurate, and production‑ready. Her attention to detail is exceptional, and her ability to maintain proportion and fit across all sizes sets a high standard within the studio. Since joining Masarie Patterns full‑time in 2025, Elisabeth has become an essential part of the team — bringing clarity, consistency, and technical excellence to every project she touches.

A Tennessee native with deep roots in the world of apparel construction, Janelle Costello is the technical backbone of Masarie Patterns. Her career began in production sewing, giving her a manufacturer’s perspective that informs every decision she makes as a technical designer. She understands how garments come together in real‑world production environments — and she uses that knowledge to engineer tech packs, construction details, and communication that eliminate confusion and elevate execution.
Janelle’s expertise spans fabrics, sewing techniques, construction methods, and fit logic. Her meticulous approach ensures that every detail is intentional, clear, and optimized for the manufacturer. She is also a natural problem‑solver, constantly refining internal processes and pushing the studio’s development standards forward. Janelle’s blend of precision, creativity, and construction knowledge makes her one of the most skilled technical designers in the industry.

Emily brings organization, precision, and creative support to every corner of Masarie Patterns. A graduate of the O’More Belmont Fashion Program, Emily returned to Nashville in 2026 to join the studio and quickly became indispensable. She supports the team across all stages of development — from sourcing and tech packs to sampling, communication, and workflow coordination.
With a strong eye for design and a natural talent for technology, Emily keeps projects moving smoothly and ensures details never fall through the cracks. Her sewing skills and construction knowledge allow her to contribute meaningfully to prototypes and development work, helping the team bring designs to life with accuracy and care. Emily’s reliability, adaptability, and commitment to excellence make her a vital part of the studio’s daily rhythm.
