Frequently Asked Questions
Timelines & Expectations
-
Once your scope is confirmed, the deposit is received, and we have the necessary design information and materials. First-prototype timing is typically established in your project quote.
Timing varies based on garment complexity, current studio capacity, fabric availability, sourcing requirements, and whether the project includes 3D development, physical sampling, or both. We will provide an estimated timeline before work begins and communicate promptly if a project variable affects the schedule.
A digital rendering is a visual representation of the garment created in CAD or 3D software. It helps confirm silhouette, proportion, color direction, and certain design details before a physical sample is made. It is a useful planning tool, but it does not replace a physical fit sample.
A sew-by sample is a fully constructed sample made from the pattern and technical documentation. It is used to evaluate fit, construction, workmanship, materials, and production readiness.
-
For many brands, the complete process, including sourcing, pattern development, sampling, fittings, revisions, factory selection, pre-production preparation, and manufacturing, takes approximately 8 to 10 months.
More complex garments, custom materials, specialty trims, multiple fitting rounds, overseas production, and larger production quantities may extend that timeline. Simple products with readily available materials and an experienced manufacturing partner may move more quickly.
-
Most styles require one to three sample rounds to finalize fit, construction, and production details.
Technical garments, structured tailoring, performance apparel, complex outerwear, and styles using unfamiliar or highly variable materials may require additional rounds. We will recommend the appropriate process based on the design and your production goals.
-
Your first round of pattern and tech-pack revisions is included in the initial project price, unless otherwise stated in your quote.
Additional revision rounds are available as needed. Before beginning any work outside the original scope, we will explain the expected impact on cost, timing, and deliverables.
-
Yes. Upon request, we can release an editable working file after the project is complete.
Once an editable file is released for client editing, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of later changes made outside our process. We are also unable to revise or maintain that same file after release. If you need support with future updates, we can create a new revised version as an additional round of work.
We recommend maintaining one approved master version to prevent version-control issues with factories.
