Frequently Asked Questions
Ownership & Rights
-
Upon full payment, you receive a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive license to use the final approved patterns and tech packs created specifically for your brand.
The studio retains ownership of its pre-existing tools, blocks, templates, drafting methods, workflows, technical systems, and general know-how. The studio will not reuse or sell your completed brand-specific pattern or tech pack for another client.
-
Once your account is paid in full, your brand may use the final approved deliverables for the approved style to:
Produce the garment with a manufacturer of your choice
Reorder the style in future production runs
Manufacture in future seasons
Produce the style in quantities that meet your business needs
Share the production files with your selected manufacturers and production partners
Request future modifications or derivative development work
Any changes made by another party are outside the studio’s quality control and may require new development work if you later ask us to revise, troubleshoot, or update the files.
-
Final deliverables are provided in the file formats listed in your project quote. Editable source files, working files, native software files, internal development files, and proprietary studio templates are not included unless specifically stated in writing.
-
No. The final pattern and technical documentation created specifically for your brand and product will not be sold, licensed, or repurposed for another client’s product.
The studio retains its underlying methods, base blocks, drafting principles, construction knowledge, templates, and general development expertise. This does not give the studio permission to reproduce your specific brand design for someone else.
-
Like other professional service providers, the studio uses systems, base blocks, workflows, and technical methods developed through years of practice.
Retaining those underlying tools allows us to continue serving clients across apparel categories while preserving the confidentiality of your brand-specific product development. Your agreement will define the rights you receive in the final deliverables and the studio’s retained rights in its pre-existing methods and materials.
-
In limited circumstances, we may consider a separate assignment of specified rights in selected deliverables. This requires a written agreement, legal review, and an additional fee. Availability depends on the nature of the project and whether the requested rights involve pre-existing studio tools, blocks, templates, or proprietary methods.
-
Unless specifically included in writing, project fees do not include fabric, trims, sample sewing, fit-model fees, sample shipping, travel, factory charges, import duties, third-party testing, manufacturing deposits, legal services, trademark registration, or intellectual-property filings.
